WHO WE ARE

IBF Indústria Brasileira de Filmes is the largest Brazilian supplier of printing products and films for medical use. Following, is a summary of our company.

1961. IBF is founded and starts pioneer manufacture in a small industrial unit near Rio de Janeiro.

1969. IBF expanded and modernized its facilities, improving production capacity and initiating research and development of presensitized aluminium offset plates and related chemicals.

1970. IBF Corporatïon begins operation in the US and foreign market.

1973. Successful launching of offset plates which quickly gain significant market share in a local market dominated by foreign brands.

1975. The company expands its line of products to the medical area, introducing films for X-Rays, mammography, nuclear medicine and duplicating film.

1981. Inauguration of the current plant: an industrial site of 330,000 sq m with production facilities of 26,000 sq m. By this time, IBF operates several branches throughout Brazil and has become a leading supplier of photographic films and papers.

1985. IBF introduces the double-face positive offset printing plate. Becomes market leader in sales of graphic art films and papers.

1993. Expands the product line by entering the digital prepress market, offering imagesetters, scanners, digital proofing and digital printing systems.

1996. IBF receives ISO 9001 Certification.

1997. Becomes market leader in sales of positive offset printing plates.

1999. IBF launches the first thermal-laser plate for CTP manufactured in Latin America.

Today. With a tradition of 44 years, IBF is the market leader in Brazil for offset plates and graphic arts films and has a relevant share in related products such as chemicals, papers, and prepress equipment. Besides covering the whole of Brazil, IBF products are sold in over 70 countries. Products such as single and double-sided negative and positive offset plates are best sellers in Latin America.

IBF's installations include the plant and headquarters located in Rio de Janeiro and 18 branches and offices throughout Brazil. Our plate manufacturing facility undergoes constant upgrading and is equipped with the most advanced technology available. IBF is ranked among the four largest world plate manufacturers.
A solid company with over 900 employees, IBF has a technical sales force of over one hundred people and an extensive network of dealers and resellers in Brazil and abroad, including the Americas, Europe, Middle East, parts of the Far East and Australia.
